Back in December of ‘08, I had the great privilege of doing a Daytrotter session. I couldn’t believe it when the session was confirmed… Chase Pagan, his band and I went on a tour from New York to Chicago, and we stopped off in the spooky little town of Rock Island, IL to record our thing.
PASTE Magazine said of the words inĀ WHAT IT IS: WHAT IT IS: “he works best read aloud. (The ear may be a more open organ than the eye when it comes to the pleasure of words.)”
Below, you can hear selections from my first book, accompanied by field recordings of subway performers, and the recorded music from some of my talented musician friends.
The pieces “Revised in Time” and “Portrait…”, feature the music of Oceanographer, from BKLYN. “Lost in Beginnings” features Goddamn Electric Bill, the ingenious musical project of Jason Torbert, of San Diego California.
